Spicy Home made chicken Biryani recipy

Biryani, a fragrant and flavorful rice dish, is a culinary masterpiece that has captured hearts and taste buds around the world. One of the most popular variations is chicken biryani, a symphony of flavors that combines tender chicken, aromatic spices, and fluffy rice.

Today, we'll guide you through the process of creating a spicy homemade chicken biryani that will leave your taste buds craving more.

Ingredients:

  • 1 kg boneless, skinless chicken thighs, cut into bite-sized pieces
  • 1 cup basmati rice, washed and soaked for 30 minutes
  • 1 large onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1-inch piece ginger, grated
  • 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
  • 1 teaspoon coriander seeds
  • 1/2 teaspoon red chili powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon garam masala
  • 1/4 teaspoon turmeric powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon cardamom powder
  • 1 bay leaf
  • 1 stick cinnamon
  • 1 cup plain yogurt
  • 1/4 cup ghee or clarified butter
  • Salt to taste
  • Water as needed

Instructions:

  1. Marinate the Chicken :  In a large bowl, combine the chicken pieces with the yogurt, cumin seeds, coriander seeds, red chili powder, garam masala, turmeric powder, cardamom powder, salt, and a splash of water. Mix well to coat the chicken evenly. Cover and refrigerate for at least 2 hours, or overnight for maximum flavor.

  2. Cook the Rice: In a separate pot, bring water to a boil. Add the soaked rice, bay leaf, cinnamon stick, and a pinch of salt. Cook until the rice is tender but not mushy. Drain and set aside.

  3. Sauté the Aromatics: Heat the ghee or clarified butter in a large pot over medium heat. Add the onions and cook until golden brown. Stir in the garlic and ginger, and cook for another minute until fragrant.

  4. Cook the Chicken: Add the marinated chicken to the pot and cook until browned on all sides.

  5. Add the Spices: Stir in the remaining spices (cumin seeds, coriander seeds, red chili powder, garam masala, turmeric powder, and cardamom powder). Cook for a few minutes until the spices release their aroma.

  6. Combine Rice and Chicken: Add the cooked rice to the pot and gently mix with the chicken and spices.

  7. Simmer and Steam: Pour enough water to cover the rice and chicken by about 1 inch. Bring to a simmer, cover the pot, and cook for 15-20 minutes, or until the rice is cooked and the liquid has been absorbed.

  8. Rest and Serve: Remove the pot from the heat and let it rest for a few minutes to allow the flavors to meld. Garnish with fresh cilantro and serve hot.

Tips:

  • For a spicier biryani, increase the amount of red chili powder.

  • You can add other ingredients to your biryani, such as chopped green chilies, raisins, or almonds.

  • For a richer flavor, add a few drops of kewra water or rose water to the rice.

Enjoy your homemade spicy chicken biryani!
